With the application of pressure to mounds of fresh adobe, the goal is to seek and uncover the potential of clay, making some fit a particular standard.  In doing so, the disruption of the functionality of wheel thrown work is forced then to focus on the language of the created form. Conformance uses experiences in the current aesthetic language to push the traditional profile of wheel thrown work to express clear geometric forms.  In Conformance the created forms may have Influences from the simple, elegant drawings and paintings created by John Bailey’s still-lifes and the dynamic pieces of  Brancusi.  Using bold earthy colors to recall the clay in its fresh, uninfluenced form and potential of the plasticity in clay the concept of faded memories remain in the soft subtle colorations.
